Reading Literacy Narrative

As a Child my mom read to me almost every night. My mom read me many different books from when you give a mouse a cookie to the chronicles of Narnia. Throughout middle school I tended to read word for word to get my answers to questions. Once in high school I started to not read word for word and started to skim all the texts for my answers. I never really had anyone really teach me, but I seemed to figure out what was important and what was not. When I was younger I hated reading it really sucked because of having to do it for school during the summer. I never got much choice on what books I could read for school so I normally hated them and hated reading them. It all changed though when I finally started reading things I was interested in. I started reading the Percy Jackson series with the Greek goods and later the roman ones it was interesting to me. I then got into science fiction books whether it is there in some other world or have superpowers it all made me want to read it. Most of my readings I do reading books but some other things I tend to read are from websites about technology or music artist. The other things I tend to read are subtitles in Japanese animes I watch. I know it is a little different from just reading but it still counts. I do not tend to listen to audio books since I like the feel of the book and its pages. I know many ways of getting my hands on them but I tend to just read the book instead. I know that makes me sound old but that is just me. Being able to read well in my middle school and high school career was helpful but did not play that big a part I think in my success. I think in college reading will be a very important part to help me succeed. I think the biggest thing to be able to read in order to gather enough information for papers or tests in order to do well in college. I do not have any disabilities in the reading area.
